Meetings consist of one or all of the following:
Photo Share, Programs and Photographer Spotlights
Photo Share - There are no contests or judging. We encourage members with all levels of experience to submit photos for discussion. Comments and discussions are always made in a positive light and are meant to assist in improving everyone’s photography skills. Each month has a different subject/theme for the photos. Subjects are provided at the beginning of the year to encourage everyone to go out to practice their skills by taking new photos rather than searching their archives for relevant photos. Members may submit up to 4 images for viewing and 3 additional as "Extras". Images can be submitted on the day of the meeting on a flash drive or via email the day before the meeting at: spointe.share@gmail.com.
Programs - Programs will be on topics at various levels of interest and experience, depending on the availability of speakers. Some topics may be repeated during the year. The programs are designed to provide exposure to topics to learn more about photographic techniques and to keep members aware of changes in the world of photography.
Photographer Spotlight – members will be invited to showcase their portfolio, photographic and editing techniques and their personal narrative. The photographer will provide up to 10 images of their work for viewing. They may also display printed material of their work. The photographer will explore the creative process and story behind the photos, editing techniques if used, and any technical challenges they had to overcome.
Member Specific Topic Discussions – After the regular scheduled meetings, board members and the club’s senior advisors will be available for topic‑specific discussions with any members who wish to stay.
Other meeting events - include Field trips, local photo shoots, group discussions, lab exercises, etc
To have fun while learning more about photography & how to take better photographs.
The club is open to any Villages resident who is interested in photography. However, we expect
that our programs will appeal most to casual and recreational photographers and to beginners.
Our season runs from September through August, on the first, third, and, when available, fifth Thursdays of the month at Lake Miona Regional Recreation Center. Meetings are scheduled from 9:30-12:20 on the first Thursday and 9:30-12:50 on the third and fifth Thursdays.
Doors open at 9:00. Refreshments are served.
Email is our primary means of communication with members. Our email address is spointe.photo@gmail.com.
Our mailing list consists of paid members of the club and can be accessed only by members of the Board and those responsible for downloading photos each month. The membership list is not given to anyone, including other members.
We have established the club website for our members, where you will find up-to-date information about the club, including the schedule for meetings and requirements for submitting photos for photo sharing.
Members have access to the club’s private Facebook page — a safe, members‑only space where they can share photos, exchange techniques, ask questions, find meeting schedules, get event details, access tutorials, and look up club contact information.
‘Sunset Pointe Casual Photography Club’
Our monthly publication is designed to keep members informed, connected, and inspired. Club updates & events; Photography tips, articles, & techniques; Member spotlight, etc.
Club members have access to the club’s expertise in photography techniques, photo editing and camera operation
After the regular meeting, new members will be invited to a 15‑minute orientation. This brief session will introduce them to the club’s website, email communications, Facebook page, the club library, upcoming events schedule, key club contacts, and other helpful resources.
In March of each year, the Sunset Pointe Photography Club holds their Annual Photo Showcase. The showcase provides a platform for our members to display their work, share their visual narrative and discuss with you photo techniques and artistic styles.
Our next Showcase is March 20, 2027
Residents and non-Residents alike are welcome to attend
